The Mahoning Valley Alphas Foundation is dedicated to educating, inspiring, and supporting youth in developing a heart for service to humanity. Our mission is to empower young people to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
We champion educational initiatives that promote scholarship and service, providing youth with exposure to diverse career opportunities and supporting internships in the trades. Through mentorship and hands-on experiences, we prepare the next generation to lead with knowledge, integrity, and purpose.
Beyond education, we are committed to uplifting our community by assisting economically challenged individuals in meeting essential needs, including clothing, food, and healthcare. Through service and support, we strive to create a lasting impact and foster a spirit of generosity and compassion.

WE ARE HERE TO SERVE
Surviving & Thriving Program
Surviving and Thriving the Game is an initiative led by former Youngstown State University (YSU) alumni to provide mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities for current student-athletes at YSU. This program is designed to equip students with the tools they need to excel academically, athletically, and professionally while fostering leadership, character, and community impact.
Through structured fellowship meetings held in the Mosley Hall of Fame Room, alumni share their insights, networks, and experiences, helping student-athletes navigate their journey both on and off the field. Students learn the following:

Alpha Scholarship

Our Alpha Academic Scholarships are designed to inspire and empower youth to reach their full potential and become impactful leaders in their communities. We recognize the importance of education as a pathway to success, and our scholarships provide essential resources to support youth as they pursue secondary education and qualified trade schools.

By bridging the financial gap, we make it possible for young people to access the education and training they need to build successful careers in the future. However, our commitment goes beyond financial assistance. We believe in cultivating well-rounded leaders who understand the importance of giving back.

In return for our support, scholarship recipients are required to engage in servant leadership, actively working to make a positive difference in their communities. Through this experience, they learn not only the value of education but also the significance of healing humanity and serving others—a cornerstone of true leadership.
The Mahoning Valley Alphas believe that fostering these qualities in our youth will develop them into compassionate, visionary leaders who will drive positive change for generations to come.
Servant Leadership
The Mahoning Valley Alpha's Servant Leadership Development Program is dedicated to cultivating a spirit of giving, serving, and helping humanity among youth. We emphasize the importance of civic engagement, empowering young people to make a tangible difference in their communities. Through this program, participants learn the value of compassion and responsibility by addressing critical needs such as hunger, thirst, visitation, and clothing for disadvantaged youth and the houseless population.
Our mission is to equip the next generation of servant leaders with the skills and mindset necessary to create lasting change. Through fun, free, and interactive experiences, youth are given the opportunity to develop, deploy, and implement practical skills in real-world community service projects. These projects not only impact the lives of their peers but also extend support and care to those experiencing homelessness.
We are committed to teaching individuals of all ages how to become effective stewards of the Valley. By fostering a deep sense of responsibility and empathy, we prepare our participants to lead with purpose and integrity, ensuring that the spirit of service continues to thrive in our community for generations to come.
